Exclusive: Arsenal’s €100m summer target revealed

Arsenal transfer target

Arsenal has identified Viktor Gyokeres as their top priority for the upcoming summer transfer window, FootballTransfers can exclusively reveal.

Scouts from the North London club have been closely monitoring the Swedish forward’s performances in recent months.

Sources within Arsenal indicate that the recruitment team is focused on securing Gyokeres due to his compatibility with Mikel Arteta’s tactical approach. His versatility, being able to play as a center forward, right-wing, or left-wing, makes him a perfect fit for Arsenal’s attacking setup. This adaptability sets him apart from other potential targets like Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Ivan Toney from Brentford.

Gyokeres, who joined Sporting CP from Coventry City last summer for €20 million with additional bonuses, signed a five-year deal. Coventry City is set to receive 10 to 15% of any profit Sporting CP makes from his future transfer, with a release clause of €100 million.

In a related development, it was previously revealed by FootballTransfers that Mikel Arteta was convinced to sign Kai Havertz after discussions with his former Bayer Leverkusen coach, Tayfun Korkut.

After a series of conversations with Korkut, Arteta was persuaded that Havertz, who scored a late winner against Brentford, could be a valuable addition to Arsenal’s squad. Korkut suggested that Havertz’s best position is as a No. 8 in a 4-3-3 formation, praising his qualities as a central player.

Arteta was keen on signing Havertz due to his belief that the player’s confidence was low at Chelsea and that he could help him regain form at Arsenal.
