Australia Qualify for FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup 2026

Australia qualify for FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup 2026

Australia has secured a place in the FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup 2026 following Great Britain’s loss to Belgium in the FIH Hockey Pro League. This year, the league introduced a new incentive: the title winners earn direct qualification to the World Cup. If Belgium or Netherlands win the league, the next highest team also qualifies.

Australia, currently leading the men’s table with 34 points and having completed their 16 matches, ensured qualification as Great Britain, now out of contention, can only reach 31 points. Netherlands, with 26 points and four games remaining, can still challenge for the title. Regardless, Australia is guaranteed to finish either first or second, securing their World Cup spot.

In the women’s league, the Dutch team clinched the title by defeating Germany. Argentina, second with 34 points, may still lose their spot to Germany, who can surpass them with three games left, keeping the women’s World Cup qualification open.
