Babar Azam to Play Under Mohammad Rizwan’s Captaincy in Global T20 Canada

Pakistan’s Babar Azam will play under the leadership of wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan as the Vancouver Knights appoint him as their captain for the upcoming Global T20 Canada League.

In an announcement on Facebook, the franchise declared, “Hear ye, hear ye! The Vancouver Knights have chosen their captain for GT20 Season 4: Sir Muhammad Rizwan! ????️ With his mighty batting skills and sharp wicketkeeping, he’s ready to lead our charge to victory. Prepare for battle, Knights!”

The Vancouver Knights’ squad will also feature prominent players such as Asif Ali, Mohammad Amir, New Zealand’s Michael Rippon, South African Dwaine Pretorius, Namibia’s Ruben Trumpelmann, and Guyana’s Jeremy Gordon.

The league, set to begin on July 25 and conclude on August 11, will also see participation from seven Pakistani cricketers, including Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Nawaz, and Iftikhar Ahmed. Shaheen and Nawaz will represent the Toronto Nationals, while Iftikhar Ahmed will play for Bangla Tigers Mississauga.

Global T20 Canada will host international stars like Mohammad Nabi, Sunil Narine, Shakib Al Hasan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, David Wiese, Hazratullah Zazai, David Warner, and Carlos Brathwaite.

Defending champions Montreal Tigers, who defeated the Knights in the 2023 final, will look to retain their title. Rizwan, who was part of the Knights last year, will now lead the charge to reclaim victory.
