Cristiano Ronaldo, at 39, has no plans to slow down, expressing his drive to compete with emerging talents in football.
“I feel proud to be competing at the highest level at this age,” Ronaldo shared on the Whoop Podcast. “It’s great and it motivates me to continue.”
Reflecting on his illustrious career, Ronaldo noted, “Maintaining a high level for 20 years is unbelievable. I have done that and will continue to do so. It’s a big achievement.”
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star, and the all-time leading scorer in men’s international football with 128 goals, has netted 891 career goals. This season, he scored 42 goals in 41 appearances for Al Nassr.
“My biggest motivation is to carry on,” he said. “Staying at this level is challenging. Competing with young players who want to prove themselves against me requires thorough physical and mental preparation.”
