Since last year, Manchester United may have actively participated in two transfer deals to support Erik ten Hag’s budget.

John Murtough’s discussions in Saudi Arabia at the end of the previous year now seem to align with reports suggesting that Al-Nassr is eyeing a double transfer from Manchester United this month. Cristiano Ronaldo could potentially reunite with two former teammates in the Middle East before the January transfer window closes.

Despite loaning out players extensively during a busy month, Manchester United is not expected to make significant moves in terms of incoming transfers before the winter deadline. The club has strained its financial resources after a summer of substantial spending to facilitate Erik ten Hag’s reconstruction at Old Trafford.

The potential for permanent player departures could trigger late activity in the pursuit of upgrades, and the Saudi Pro League might play a role in facilitating two such moves. According to reports, Al-Nassr, a team in the SPL, is gearing up for an audacious attempt to secure Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Casemiro this year. The Knights of Najd are reportedly preparing a substantial offer to entice Casemiro to leave United in the summer.

Erik ten Hag is reportedly open to selling the 31-year-old midfielder, just two years after his £70 million arrival from Real Madrid. Earlier this month, Manchester United initiated contract talks with Wan-Bissaka’s representatives after triggering a 12-month extension until 2025. However, these discussions did not produce positive results, and reportedly, clubs like Crystal Palace and West Ham United are among those interested in Wan-Bissaka ahead of the summer transfer window.

Casemiro, earning around £18.2 million annually, is the highest earner at Old Trafford, while Wan-Bissaka earns approximately £4.7 million per year. With Manchester United expected to offload several high-earning players in the upcoming summer, including Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial, and Jadon Sancho, cashing in on Casemiro and Wan-Bissaka would provide a significant financial boost.
