Pakistan Knocked Out of T20 World Cup as USA-Ireland Clash Washed Out

Pakistan knocked out of T20 World Cup 2024

FLORIDA: Pakistan’s journey in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 has come to a premature end. The crucial fixture between co-host USA and Ireland at Central Broward Regional Park was washed out due to a wet outfield, securing USA’s qualification for the Super 8s for the first time.

With the washout result, the USA advanced, leaving Pakistan and Ireland eliminated from the tournament. This marks the first time Pakistan has been knocked out at the group stage of the T20 World Cup.

The USA topped their group with five points from four matches. Even if Pakistan wins their last group match against Ireland on June 16, they can only reach four points.

Pakistan’s campaign started disastrously with a shocking Super Over defeat to the USA. Their woes continued with a narrow six-run loss to arch-rivals India at a packed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on June 9.

The former champions managed to secure a hard-fought seven-wicket victory against Canada, who have lost all three of their matches.

Meanwhile, India has already secured a spot in the Super 8s, remaining unbeaten as the inaugural champions of the T20 World Cup 2024.
