Washington Commanders Agree to One-Year Deal with TE Zach Ertz

Veteran tight end Zach Ertz is embarking on his 12th NFL season with a new team, the Washington Commanders. Ertz has signed a one-year deal worth up to $5 million, rejoining the NFC East division he knows well after spending most of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles. His move to Washington also reunites him with former Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury, now the Commanders’ offensive coordinator, who had success utilizing Ertz’s skills during their time together in Arizona.

Having left Arizona and spent a brief stint with the Detroit Lions in early 2024, Ertz is now set to contribute to Washington’s offense. Although the Commanders may face challenges without a clear plan at quarterback, Ertz’s presence adds experience and talent to the team. Despite not seeing game action with the Lions, Ertz remains a valuable asset, and his reunion with Kingsbury offers the potential for him to make a significant impact in Washington’s upcoming season.
