he Edmonton Oilers suffered a crushing defeat with a 5-0 loss to the Dallas Stars in Dallas last night.

Dallas achieved a franchise milestone with their eighth consecutive victory, as goaltender Jake Oettinger delivered an outstanding performance, making 35 saves and securing his second consecutive shutout. Oettinger has now gone 152:21 without conceding a goal.

The Stars took an early lead just 2:07 into the game when Radek Faksa slipped a backhand past Oilers goalie Calvin Pickard. Despite outshooting the Stars 17-10 in the first period, the Oilers were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.

Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins expressed satisfaction with their first period performance but acknowledged their deviation from their game plan after conceding the second goal. Tyler Seguin extended the Stars’ lead to 2-0 on a power play late in the second period, followed by Wyatt Johnston’s goal just over three minutes later.

The third period remained scoreless.
