Oilers’ Captain Connor McDavid Set to Return Against Sharks

Connor McDavid return lineup Sharks

Edmonton Oilers’ captain Connor McDavid is set to rejoin the lineup against the San Jose Sharks after missing three consecutive games due to a lower-body injury sustained against the Calgary Flames on April 6.

Addressing reporters, McDavid emphasized that his absence wasn’t merely precautionary, stating, “There was something there bugging me, and I was sitting out to feel better.” Head coach Kris Knoblauch mentioned that Evander Kane will be taking a maintenance day, indicating that if it were playoffs, Kane would be on the ice, but the team wants to ensure his full recovery.

McDavid’s return is highly anticipated, considering his stellar performance this season, ranking third in the league with 130 points and leading with 99 assists. Should he register an assist against the Sharks, he could become the first player since Wayne Gretzky in 1990-91 to reach 100 helpers in a season. Nikita Kucherov, with 98 assists, also stands on the cusp of this milestone.
