Garoppolo has decided not to contest the suspension and will be absent for the initial two games of the 2024 season. There are indications that the Raiders plan to release Garoppolo before mid-March, jeopardizing his $11.25 million roster bonus and potentially voiding his $11.25 million base salary guarantee for the 2024 season due to the suspension.

Having signed a three-year, $72.75 million contract with the Raiders in March, Garoppolo’s future with the team is now uncertain under the coaching of Antonio Pierce and general management of Tom Telesco. Upon his official release, the Raiders’ quarterback roster will consist of Aidan O’Connell and veteran Brian Hoyer.
