Rinku Singh, India T20 World Cup

Khanchandra Singh, the father of cricketer Rinku Singh, has opened up about his son’s emotional response to not making it into India’s T20 World Cup squad. Despite Rinku’s consistent performance and significant contributions to the team, he was unexpectedly omitted from the final 15-player roster. Khanchandra revealed that Rinku, who had been a key player for India in T20Is since his debut, including winning a gold medal at the Asian Games, was devastated by the news.

Currently accompanying the Kolkata Knight Riders for their upcoming IPL match against the Mumbai Indians, Rinku was spotted leaving the Kolkata airport alongside team owner Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh, who had earlier expressed his hope to see Rinku included in the final squad, has been a strong source of support for the young cricketer.

Expressing his disappointment and pride, Khanchandra shared, “There was hope, and that’s why there’s a bit of sadness. We had prepared to celebrate, thinking Rinku would be in the starting eleven. He is heartbroken. He spoke to his mother and shared that he wasn’t selected in the final squad of 11 or 15. However, he also mentioned that he would still be traveling with the team.”
