Canadiens Call Up Justin Barron for Saturday’s Game Against Maple Leafs

Canadiens Justin Barron emergency recall

The Montreal Canadiens have announced a roster shakeup ahead of their Saturday night showdown against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Defenseman Justin Barron has been swiftly recalled from the AHL’s Laval Rocket on an emergency basis, stepping in due to the unavailability of Kaiden Guhle and Arber Xhekaj for tonight’s game.

Guhle is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury, while Xhekaj’s condition is pending further evaluation. Unfortunately, neither defenseman will be able to hit the ice against the Maple Leafs.

Barron, a 22-year-old hailing from Halifax, Nova Scotia, returns to the NHL after a stint in Montreal earlier this season, where he notched 12 points in 41 games. His time with the Rocket saw him tally 11 points in 30 games, demonstrating his readiness to contribute at the top level.

The Canadiens will host the Maple Leafs at the Bell Centre, puck drop set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
