Fabio Wardley Prioritizes Rematch with Frazer Clarke Over Promotional Deal

Fabio Wardley Frazer Clarke Rematch

Fabio Wardley’s team has confirmed that signing with a promoter won’t hinder a rematch with Frazer Clarke. The British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion, known for his independence from major promoters, is rumored to be considering a deal with one of Britain’s top promoters.

Concerns have been raised that if Wardley’s new promoter isn’t BOXXER, Clarke’s current promoter, the highly anticipated rematch might be in jeopardy. However, Wardley’s adviser, Mike Ofo, insists that Wardley’s desire to fight Clarke again is paramount in their decision-making process.

“With the current state of boxing, promoters are more open to collaboration,” Ofo said. “Fabio is determined to have that rematch and will not sign with a promoter who doesn’t support that. His priority is to fight Clarke again, and any deal will reflect that commitment.”

Ofo emphasized that the team is actively working to arrange the rematch, expressing Wardley’s confidence in his ability to stop Clarke. “We’ve been in talks with Clarke’s promoter to make this fight happen next. Fabio is excited and ready to prove himself. We aim for the rematch by the end of the year.”

Wardley, 29, managed by Dillian Whyte, remains a free agent and is in discussions with several promoters, including Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions. Ofo highlighted that Wardley’s future decisions will prioritize his best interests. “We operate on a fight-by-fight basis. If a promotional deal benefits Fabio, we will consider it. Until then, he remains a free agent.”

Ofo also noted Whyte’s return to the gym, confirming that his next fight will take place before the end of 2024. Meanwhile, Wardley is back in training and eagerly awaiting a date for the rematch. “We’re not rushing him, but he’s ready. We hope to finalize a deal soon to make this fight happen.”

The Wardley-Clarke rematch, following their thrilling draw in March, promises to be one of the year’s most anticipated heavyweight clashes, with both fighters eager to settle the score.
