Former UFC fighter Geane Herrera tragically passed away at the age of 33, according to a statement from Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC). Herrera, known as ‘La Pulga’ in the fighting world, reportedly lost his life in a motorcycle accident in Florida.
BKFC confirmed Herrera’s untimely demise through a social media post, expressing condolences to his family and loved ones. A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to support Herrera’s funeral expenses.
“Our hearts ache with the sudden loss of Geane Carlos Herrera, affectionately known as ‘La Pulga,’ who departed this world far too soon at the age of 33,” the GoFundMe appeal stated. “Leaving behind a 16-year-old son, a girlfriend expecting their child, parents, siblings, and a host of loved ones, Geane’s vibrant spirit touched all who knew him.”
Originally from California, Herrera entered the UFC scene in August 2015, debuting at UFC Fight Night 73. While his UFC journey was brief, he left a mark by showcasing his talent and dedication. Herrera transitioned to Absolute Championship Berkut in 2018 before making his BKFC debut in July 2021, where he secured a victory against Abdiel Velazquez via technical knockout.
Described as a hardworking individual, Herrera pursued various jobs to support his family and community, aiming to make a positive impact and uphold his Colombian-American heritage.
“Geane’s memory will endure as a testament to his boundless energy, love for life, and unwavering determination to pursue his dreams,” the GoFundMe campaign emphasized. “His legacy will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.”
