Former Bills safety Jordan Poyer, now with the Dolphins, recently praised his former quarterback, Josh Allen, calling him “the best quarterback in the league.” Poyer, who spent seven seasons with Buffalo, joined his former teammates for Micah Hyde’s annual charity softball game in Buffalo over the weekend. The 33-year-old, who signed a one-year deal with Miami after being released by the Bills in March, used the event to bid farewell to Buffalo fans.
“Seven years out here, man,” Poyer said. “I loved every moment of it. Thank you so much for allowing me to grow as a person, as a player. Teammates, coaches, everybody, man, I loved every moment of it. Sorry we couldn’t get it done, but you’ve got the best quarterback in the league. I know that might go viral, but it’s OK. I get to see y’all twice a year. I can’t wait. You guys come down to Miami. I get to come back to Orchard Park one more time.”
Poyer’s high praise for Allen comes from witnessing his growth from a questioned rookie to a top NFL quarterback. Despite the likely ribbing from his new Miami teammates, Poyer’s comments reflect his deep respect for Allen’s talent.

After earning All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors with the Bills, Poyer is set to join Tua Tagovailoa and a revitalized Dolphins defense. Both teams aim to surpass the playoff challenges posed by Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Poyer will face Allen and the Bills twice this season, including in Week 2 during the first Thursday Night Football game on Prime Video.
Reflecting on his return to Buffalo, Poyer said, “It was really surreal. I didn’t know what to expect coming out here today, but Bills Mafia showed out as always. It was just really cool to see the support from the fans out here. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later, so it was just fun to come out here and support Micah.”
