Imad Wasim Set to Return for T20 World Cup Clash Against India

Imad Wasim returns for India clash

NEW YORK: Pakistan has received a significant boost ahead of their crucial T20 World Cup match against India on Sunday, with all-rounder Imad Wasim declared fit to play.

Imad missed Pakistan’s opening game—a crushing defeat to the USA in Dallas—and also sat out the final match of their pre-tournament series against England due to a reported rib injury.

However, Pakistan’s coach Gary Kirsten confirmed during the pre-match press conference that the 35-year-old left-arm spinner is ready to make his return.

“He will be available,” said Kirsten, who took charge of the Pakistan team in April.

While Kirsten did not reveal Pakistan’s probable line-up, citing the need for fitness updates on other players, he emphasized the team’s determination to recover from the painful loss to the USA with a strong performance against their arch-rivals.

“It’s never easy for any player not to win games of cricket. They’re trying their best. I don’t think I needed to motivate this team for this game,” he said.

“The important thing for us is to operate genuinely as a team. Yes, we need individuals to deliver strong performances, but games like this require a true team effort.”

“It’s a big game, so we’ll treat it like any other match but will certainly give it our best shot. The team’s motivated. The defeat from two days ago is behind us. We can’t change it, so we move on,” he added.
