T20 World Cup 2024 record prize money

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Monday that the winners of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be awarded a record $2.45 million from a total prize pool of $11.25 million. The runner-up will receive $1.28 million.

The ICC highlighted that the 55-match tournament, set to take place over 28 days across nine venues in the West Indies and USA, will be the largest T20 World Cup ever. Each participating team is guaranteed at least $225,000.

The ninth edition of the tournament will conclude with the final at Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29, with the champions lifting the trophy and securing the top prize of $2.45 million. Semi-finalists will earn $787,500 each, while teams that don’t advance past the Super 8s will receive $382,500. Teams placed ninth through twelfth will take home $247,500 each, and those finishing in the thirteenth to twentieth positions will get $225,000 each.

Additionally, teams will earn an extra $31,154 for each match won, excluding the semi-finals and final. The tournament format includes 40 first-round matches, with the top eight progressing to the Super 8s, followed by semi-finals in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana, and culminating in the final in Barbados.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice remarked, “This event is historic in so many ways, so it is fitting that the prize money for players reflects that. Hundreds of millions of fans around the world will be entertained by the players in what we’re hoping to be an Out of This World event.”
